Hello SBBA Members,
The SBBA Board has been very busy this past month
working on nominations for the new slate of officers and committee members as
well as a change to the way in which potential client job posting will be
handled. The nominations for the new
slate are:
President—Jennifer Loren
Vice President—Karen Mora (Ziegler)
Secretary—Paula Mauro
Treasurer—Ken Jurgensen
Newsletter Committee—Jo Rogers
Speaker Committee—Pamela Allman, Vicki St. Martin & Maureen Turk
The SBBA Board has voted to adopt the following regarding the way jobs are posted:
The SBBA was established to provide a support mechanism for independent bookkeepers and to have them become members and participate for that reason. Unfortunately, the SBBA Board feels that quite a few members have joined in recent years solely for the purpose of obtaining potential clients.
It is the duty of the Board to maintain the purpose of the SBBA in the interest of all members and its founding mission, “…to exchange information, increase our contacts, and educate ourselves through our peers.” Therefore, it has made the decision to change the way in which jobs are posted.
Jobs will be announced at the monthly meetings. Between meetings, they will be sent via e-mail to those who have attended either of the last two meetings. If any member has paid dues going forward and does not wish to remain a member due to this change in procedure, please contact Ken Jurgensen and you will be issued a refund.
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting Tuesday, September 16, 2003.
Best Regards,
Maureen Turk

The Santa Barbara Bookkeepers Association met for
its general meeting at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2003.
There were 40 in attendance.
Jennifer Loren opened the meeting with various
announcements. Marilyn Clayton won
the free lunch. New members
attending were Kat Demille and Holly Kosal.
Also attending was rejoining member Lisa Gonzalez.
This meeting was particularly nice as it was a
joint meeting with our local women’s CPA group.
In addition to our own members CPAs in attendance, we welcomed Donna
Dawson, Laura Coppele, Karen Meyer, Enid Sterling, Patricia Stathis, Maureen
Rainy, and Pat Jones. Other guests
included Leslie Yoon, Lisa Light-Mathews, and Laura Coup.
Lisa Bryant from Business and Professional Women discussed bookkeeper and CPA relationships from a professional standpoint and how they might better serve each others’ purposes to better serve mutual clients. Her handouts demonstrating point by point examples were excellent. Thank you Lisa, well done!
JUST DUE IT
Enclosed with your newsletter is a personalized letter from our Treasurer, Ken Jurgensen, letting you know your dues status and you information on file. PLEASE take the time to review the insert. Your editor this month was Julie Raffety. Next month’s editor will be Jo Rogers.
This is my last month as newsletter editor. I have enjoyed doing the newsletter, but my work load does not leave enough time any more. I would encourage any who would like to give it a try and offer my help and tips!
